The 200th anniversary of the birth of Russian poet and storyteller Alexander Pushkin was marked with the installation of a monument in his memory in Washington, DC in June 2000.

A gift from the City of Moscow to the City of Washington and installed on the campus of George Washington University, it is the only monument to have been erected to the memory of a Russian national on American soil.

The Foundation was instrumental in coordinating the efforts of organizations, individuals and institutions from both countries, from conception through design and final installation of the work by noted Russian sculptor Alexander Bourganov.
