In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Russian Orthodox Church in the United States, the Foundation sponsored Churches of Moscow, Forty Times Forty, at the Meridian International Center in Washington, DC. The Russian State Fine Arts Library selected nearly 100 lithographs, engravings and original photographs for the exhibition.

The skyline of Moscow, with its multicolor cupolas and patterned bell towers, has always impressed residents and visitors alike. Not only are these buildings magnificent monuments of architecture which preserve icons and holy objects, they have been a means by which a national consciousness is expressed.
